Soil, water en integrated production Unit
Its research seeks to understand the impact of farming practices on natural environments, paying particular attention to soil and water resources, developing relevant analysis and monitoring indicators or tools, and proposing innovative incentives and cropping systems designed to guarantee sustainable farming systems.
Establishing objective criteria for assessing the performance of innovative cropping systems and their impact on soil, water and air resources.
Understanding and monitoring the mechanisms that govern the biogeochemical cycles of soil fertility, and determine incentives for adjusting soil fertility while respecting the environment.
Investigating and modelling how contaminants resulting from farming activities are transferred to the natural environment (soil, water and air). Developing tools for the management or prevention of the associated risks.
Developing, investigating and comparing innovative cropping systems on the basis of sustainability indicators, in order to propose solutions and responses to the current and future challenges facing the farming sector.
