Abstract | Barley yellow dwarf luteovirus has occurred on several occasions in Belgium over the past 20 years, causing serious damage in cereal crops, especially winter barley. The rationale of control of aphid vectors has become more refined over this time with improved knowledge of the disease and the development of serological methods. Since 1989, Belgian farmers have been able to use an advising system based on field assessment of aphid populations and measurement of their viruliferous properties. |
