Development of practical measures to control Venturia spp. causing scab in apple and pear orchards under organic production systems using weather forecasting models and biodiversity

Project Partners: Cooperative Research Project between The Walloon Agricultural Research Center (CRA-W) and Pear Research Institute (PRI) of the National Institute of Horticultural & Herbal Sciences (NIHHS) of the Rural Development Administration (RDA) of the Republic of Korea Research Funds (%): Projet financé à 100% par le « National Institute of Horticultural & Herbal Sciences - Pear Research Center of the Rural Development Administration (RDA) of Korea ». Project duration: 2015-2017 Research Goals: • Validate existing forecasting systems used in Belgium for primary scab control in organic apple and pear production system, • Evaluate the fungicidal agents for suppressing pear scab in field experiments under organic farming system, • Develop feasible tools for (re)design of organic pear orchards and to adopt specific management practices with the aim to increase orchard resilience through higher functional biodiversity.
