Title Use of bacteria protections in pelleting for preinoculation of bean seeds (Phaseolus vulgaris L.)
Abstract Preinoculation of P. vulgaris cv. Contender seeds with Rhizobium phaseoli was carried out by incorporating the inoculum into a mixture of vermiculite and compost or wheat bran, which was applied to seeds to produce a solid pellet. The preinoculated pelleted seed contained sufficient bacteria per seed for effective nodulation after 56 d storage at 25 deg C. These results were not achieved using a liquid inoculum of Rhizobium.
