Abstract An account is presented of the proceedings of a conference on the biological production of fruit crops, held at Ashford in the UK in October 2000. Topics that were dealt with are summarized under the headings biological fruit production today (with contributions concerning Denmark, the rest of Europe and the USA); current trials (in Germany, Netherlands, Switzerland and Denmark); what of the research (at the levels of the soil, the plant and modern nurseries); the work of some researchers; and the future.
