Abstract | Winter barley was inoculated in the field with incompatible monokaryotic strs. of T. incarnata. Naturally occurring aerial basidiospores induced karyogamy to the extent that germinating sclerotia became fertile. However, basidiospores were usually ineffective in spreading the disease in pathogen-free fields. |
