Abstract The toxicity of pirimicarb residues to Adalia bipunctata and Episyrphus balteatus larvae and Aphidius rhopalosiphi adults was evaluated. The insects were exposed to residues on glass plates and on first leaves of French bean [Phaseolus vulgaris] plants. In parallel, residue levels of pirimicarb on both substrates were determined chemically. Mathematical models to estimate the toxicity of pirimicarb and its residues for beneficials were developed. The results showed that the toxicity of pirimicarb residues is influenced by the substrate.
