Scientific Collaboration Mission at Mohammed V University of Rabat

As part of efforts to strengthen international scientific collaboration, Juan Antonio Fernández Pierna and François Stevens visited Mohammed V University of Rabat (UM5) for a mission focused on training and academic exchanges, held on 25–26 April 2026, at the invitation of Professor Abdelaziz Bouklouze.

During this mission, they delivered a seven-hour intensive course to around thirty students, covering the fundamentals of hyperspectral imaging and chemometrics. The lectures addressed the CRA-W’s activities in vibrational spectroscopy, current challenges in quality analysis and authentication, as well as several discrimination methods, illustrated through practical demonstrations. The course generated strong interest and led to particularly fruitful discussions.

In addition, Anas En‑Najy, a PhD student at UM5 who had completed a research internship at CRA-W in 2025, presented the progress of his research on the authentication of the floral origin of Moroccan honeys and the detection of adulteration. The scientific discussions helped to guide the next stages of his work.

Overall, this mission contributed to consolidating the collaboration between CRA-W and UM5, through joint research projects, co-authored publications and training activities, while also opening up new perspectives for future cooperation.
