Abstract Cherry is a member of the Rosaceae family, subfamily Prunoideae, subgenus Cerasus. It is the common name of several Prunus species such as P. avium, P. cerasus, P. mahaleb, P. serotina, P. serrulata, P. incisa and many interspecific hybrids (P. canescens x P. incisa, P. avium x P. cerasus, P. incisa x serrula, etc.).
