Abstract This is the 3rd of 3 articles on the control of Cydia pomonella, a pest of apples and pears in Belgium, and provides a bibliographic review of investigations in other countries. It begins with general notes on biological control methods (with sections on predators, parasitoids, entomogenous fungi, Bacillus thuringiensis, entomophilic nematodes, avermectin and viruses). These are followed by notes on biotechnical control methods. Reviews of relevant research in Switzerland, France, Italy, the Netherlands and the USA follow. Conclusions relating to future prospects in Belgium are presented.
