Abstract This paper presents the results of a research conducted to determine the occurrence of Fusarium species and deoxynivalenol [vomitoxin] content in Belgian wheat grain samples from 2000 to 2002. Data are also presented on the aggressiveness and mycotoxin biosynthesis capacity of different F. culmorum and F. graminearum [Gibberella zeae] strains isolated in Belgium after inoculation of a head blight susceptible wheat variety.
