Abstract | A total of 404 isolates of Phytophthora infestans were collected in the South part of Belgium (Wallonia) in several potato fields, volunteers and dumps during the years 2010-2013. Most of isolates were tested for several phenotypic characteristics, such mating type, virulence and sensitivity to metalaxyl. 64% of the isolates were A2 mating type. All known virulence genes were found among the tested isolates. 93% of the A2 isolates are resistant to metalaxyl and 73% of the A1 isolates are sensitive to metalaxyl. In 2013, DNA analysis based on simple sequences repeat (SSR) was performed in collaboration with EuroBlight Phytophthora infestans monitoring project . Genotype 13_A2 was the more prevalent in Walloon region. |
